Pamukkale by Caravan — Cotton Castle on the Road

The white travertine terraces and ancient Hierapolis are an easy 1–2 night stop between Istanbul and the southern coasts.

Best season
March – November

Pamukkale's white calcium terraces are one of Turkey's most photographed sights, and the adjoining ancient city of Hierapolis is genuinely worth a half-day visit. As a caravan stop it's perfect — campsites are right at the foot of the terraces, the drive in is easy, and you can be at Antalya or Bodrum within 4 hours the next morning.

Stopover convenience

Halfway between Istanbul and the southern coast — break up the long drive.

Thermal pools

Walk barefoot through warm calcium-rich pools at sunset, when most tour buses have left.

Ancient Hierapolis

Pamukkale — frequently asked

How long does Pamukkale deserve?
One full afternoon and one morning is plenty. It's an excellent overnight stop rather than a multi-day destination.
